after spending a decade in the city of angels, arguably the biggest foodie city on our planet, fred and jeremy first brought a taste of california to the cotswolds with good food kitchen. this little bistro is located on the cotswold way, in wotton-under-edge, a market town famous for being the gateway to the cotswolds.

the duo spent almost two years building a five star reputation, as well as five star reviewed restaurant, while listening to the community: what they miss, what they want. when the opportunity came along to relaunch the royal oak, breathing new foodie LIFE INTO THE HISTORIC BUILDING, THE TWO KNEW EXACTLY WHAT TO DO.

a delicious menu, celebrating the south west’s best products and producers, boasts pub classics, perfected for a foodie’s palate. along with a thoughtful young ‘uns menu, the royal oak is firmly stamping a new era for the pub: a place for family, community and really great food.

early in 2026, the team plans to introduce a small italian menu, with some classics, as well as comfort food that italians enjoy at home. along with daily specials, this will complete the pub’s foodie offering, and the team, town and community cannot wait for you to try.
